Albino (click here for more Albino Pictures)

albino as taken from Webster Dictionary

a person with a congenital deficiency of pigment in the skin and hair, which are white, and in the eyes, which have a deep red pupil and pink or blue iris and are unable to bear ordinary light/ plant or animal with similarly deficient in coloring pigment.

leucism a genetic mutation in which an albino has pigment in the eyes but not the skin.

This albino bluebird is completely white except for its eyes, as in the descriptions at the top of this web page.

The pictures above were photographed by Jim and Ann Auer. Banding was done by Ann Auer.

The pictures are from top left, albino with siblings, albino in hand, banding  preparation, wing measurement, banding, display of band, unhappy albino bluebird, brother getting banded, and mom watching!

This has been a privilege and pleasure to be able to be involved with such a rare creature.  We wish to thank Floyd Bontrager for inviting us to his property to photograph and band this marvelous creature of God.
